Position Type: Contract, 25 hours per week (0.67 full time equivalent)
Salary: $23.41 per hour

Job Summary:
The Greenhouse Assistant will play a key role in the daily operations of our youth-led greenhouse, helping to grow fresh produce and educate our youth about food sustainability and security. This position offers hands-on experience in sustainable agriculture while developing employability and leadership skills in a supportive, youth-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist with planting, watering, weeding, harvesting, general greenhouse maintenance, and groundskeeping of Hay River Youth Centre property
Practice sustainable methods such as composting and water conservation
Help mentor and guide younger participants involved in the greenhouse program
Support the delivery of youth workshops and events on gardening, cooking, canning, market gardening and food security
Assist with sales of flowers, seedlings and vegetables
Ensure the greenhouse space is clean, organized, and welcoming
Learning Outcomes & Skills Developed:
Practical experience in sustainable agriculture and food systems
Environmental stewardship and green job readiness
Teamwork, leadership, time management, and communication skills
Exposure to community development and environmental education
Qualifications:
Applicant should be able to work independently
Able to work while standing for long periods, and lift up to 25 lbs
Able to use small hand tools safely and responsibly, with proper protective equipment
Previous gardening experience is not required but would be considered an asset
Previous experience working with youth is not required but would be considered an asset
Terms of Employment:
Wage: $23.41 per hour
Hours: 25 hours per week. Regular work hours will be 1:00pm to 6:00pm, Tuesday to Saturday
Overtime: If employee works more than 7.5 hours in a day, or more than 75 hours in a two-week pay period, overtime will be paid at a rate of 1.5 times the regular hourly rate
Contract End Date: August 31, 2026
Supervisor: Reports to the Program Coordinator
Probation Period: This position is subject to a probationary period of 30 days from the starting date of this contract
Benefits: This is a contract position and does not include health, dental, or other traditional benefits
Annual Leave: Vacation will be paid out at the end of each pay period at a rate of 4% of hours worked within that period. No vacation hours will be accrued during the duration of this contract. Unpaid leave may be approved at the discretion of the Executive Director

This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in media, journalism, and broadcasting while working alongside an experienced journalist and media producer.

Reports To: Program Coordinator or Executive Director
Create and publish engaging content (posts, reels, stories, short videos) for HRYC social media
Cover local events, youth initiatives, and community stories in Hay River
Plan, produce, and launch a weekly podcast (research, scripting, interviewing, recording, editing)
Collaborate with staff and youth to amplify youth voice and participation
Maintain a consistent posting schedule aligned with HRYC values
Edit audio and video content using industry-standard tools
Promote podcast episodes and social content across platforms
Stay on top of social media trends and bring fresh ideas to the role
Work independently while meeting deadlines and team priorities
Interest in media, communications, journalism, or broadcasting
Experience with video/audio recording and editing (an asset)
Strong creativity, initiative, and reliability
Comfortable working independently
Confident speaking on camera and into a microphone
Ability to write and follow scripts
Willingness to obtain First Aid/CPR and a Vulnerable Sector Check
Terms of Employment:
Wage: $24 per hour
Hours: 30 hours per week. Regular work hours will be 9:30am to 6:00pm, Tuesday to Friday, with the ability to flex hours in order to attend events or conduct interviews outside of regular business hours.
Overtime: If employee works more than 7.5 hours in a day, or more than 37.5 hours per week, overtime will be paid at a rate of 1.5 times the regular hourly rate

Job Summary:
We are seeking a dynamic and passionate individual to join our team as a Summer Program Coordinator. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, implementing, and coordinating various youth programs and activities within our organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Development:
Design and develop engaging youth programs that align with the organization's mission and goals.
Collaborate with stakeholders to identify program needs and address the unique interests and challenges of the youth community.
Coordination and Implementation:
Oversee the execution of youth programs, ensuring they run smoothly and effectively.
Coordinate with volunteers, staff, and external partners to deliver high-quality programs and events.
Manage shift schedules and coordinate time-off requests with staff.
Oversee upkeep of youth centre and follow-up on daily and weekly staff checklists as required.
Assist Executive Director with equipping and restocking youth centre.
Occupational Health and Safety:
Implement and maintain the Youth Centre’s Health and Safety policy.
Ensure all staff and volunteers are up to date on OHS policies.
Review and revise the Health and Safety policy as needed.
Coordinate with other tenants of Studio 906 on OHS programs.
Budget Management:
Assist in the budgeting process for youth programs, ensuring resources are allocated appropriately.
Monitor and manage program expenses within budget constraints.
Reporting and Evaluation:
Provide regular reports to the Executive Director on program activities, achievements, and challenges.
Collect and analyze feedback to assess program effectiveness and make recommendations for improvement.
Communication and Outreach:
Establish and maintain positive relationships with community partners, schools, and other stakeholders.
Promote programs through various channels to increase participation and community engagement.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent work experience.
Proven experience in program coordination, particularly in youth-focused initiatives.
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Familiarity with budget management and reporting.
Passion for youth development and community engagement.

Hours: 28 scheduled hours plus 2 flex hours per week. Regular work hours will be 10:00am to 6:00pm, Tuesday to Friday, with occasional evenings and weekends as required
Overtime: If employee works more than 7.5 hours in a day, or more than 37.5 hours per week, overtime will be paid at a rate of 1.5 times the regular hourly rate
